Focus, Creativity, Strategy - 3 Ingredient Recipe for Business SUCCESS

If you're a business owner, you know how incredibly difficult it can be to harness focus. With all the aspects of managing a business, it is not uncommon for your day-to-day to look more like a race against time than a steady, marathon. We would love to just sit down, focus, and get our work done with little to no interruptions.

Unfortunately, even for those who are not business owners, that is simply not the case. If you have ever found yourself jumping from task to task with no real idea of what you have truly accomplished in your work day, then this article is for you.

As business owners, we need to have a clear picture of what the strategy for our business looks like. Our business becomes what we make it. If the picture is not clear in you head that will translate into other areas of your operation, and it will be obvious you are walking in no direction.

In order to lead and operate a successful business that prides itself on good quality, you must be truly consistent on these 3 things:

#1: FOCUS

Focusing is a hard thing to do. Especially when your phone is ringing non-stop, you have emails to answer, and your employees are constantly coming into your office to get clarification on something.

It is up to you as the business owner to set strict guidelines and standards for yourself, not only for the sake of your business, but out of respect for yourself and what your goals are.

It can be a long and arduous battle to train your brain to focus on something for a given period of time without having to think about the ten million other things you have to take care of. However, with time, you will find that the ability to focus will come more naturally.

But wait, it gets better! With an increased ability to focus you will also find a significantly increased level of productivity that will have you finishing every work day with the satisfaction that you actually accomplished something.

Here is an exercise you can try right now. Whether you're sitting at home or in your office, set aside 5 minutes. I'm sure even a busy person like you can spare just 5 minutes, it will be worth it.

First, focus on where you are sitting. Is your chair comfortable? What about your desk? Is it cluttered or clean? Do you hear any background noise that could be distracting you? Think about the fact that you are sitting in the office of a business you own, and take comfort in that. You have come this far. What do you like about your job? What is your favorite part of the day?

These may seem like silly questions, but they get you thinking about the present moment and what you enjoy about your day. Our mind is focused on trying to figure out these answers instead of trying to get so much done it loses track of what it was doing in the first place.

You might struggle with this exercise. It might even feel ridiculous at first. If it feels too complicated to do at the office, you can try it in any location you like. This exercise helps you increase your focus and live in the present moment in just 5 minutes. Even if you are just sitting in your living room, you can still do this.

If you have trouble enjoying experiences, this is also a really good exercise. We need to learn how to live in the experience of the present moment, because that is what will allow us to truly retain focus and help us reap the benefits of good quality thinking and problem-solving.

#2: CREATIVITY

Creativity is one of the best factors you can encourage yourself and your employees to have. When you open your mind up to new ideas and let your juices flow, you can find yourself enjoying your job a whole lot more, getting more input from employees will make them feel more valued and included as part of the firm.

Any employee who feels like they have an important role is sure to provide better work quality and stay more loyal over time.

#3: STRATEGY

A good strategy can get you far, but how you implement it might get you even further. If you have a business strategy in mind, you will be one step ahead. Figuring out how to implement that strategy and what it means for your business can be a challenge.

Sometimes making changes can be scary. It takes us out of what is comforting and puts in a situation where we might get negative feedback from employees or clients, for example.

If we work on putting aside the fear and moving on with our purpose, only focusing on implementing your strategy without distractions, your business will take a new and better direction.
